Living Body Awake

In our fast-paced, externally focused world, we are often trained to think of awakening as a mental process—an insight, a realization, or a change in thought. But true awakening is not just a shift in the mind; it’s a deep, embodied experience. It is the living body awake—vibrantly alive, conscious, and expressing the essential self through every cell.

In the Energy Codes®, I teach that the body is not just a vehicle we carry around. It is the soul in form. And when we engage in practices like yoga—not as mere physical exercise but as a means to access, circulate, and embody energy—we begin to wake up to the truth of who we are. Yoga, then, is not something we do; it becomes a way of being.

Yoga as an Energetic Technology

The ancient yogis knew what modern science is beginning to validate: the body is energy. It’s a field of frequency, intelligence, and subtle movement. The poses (asanas), breathwork (pranayama), and meditation were never about “stretching” or “strengthening” in the typical sense. They were—and still are—technologies to tune the instrument of the body, so we can perceive and embody higher frequencies of our own divine nature.

Every yoga pose is a portal. When we practice consciously, we are not simply placing the body into shapes. We are placing our attention—our energy—into areas of the body that have been asleep, hidden in survival patterns, or disassociated from our core self. Through awareness, breath, and intention, we activate these areas, build new neural pathways, and begin to “turn on the lights” in every room of our inner temple.

Breath as the Bridge

Breath is the bridge between the unconscious and the conscious, between the seen and unseen. In my work, I emphasize the power of “central channel breathing”—a technique to guide life force energy through the core of the body, aligning us vertically with the true self, beyond personality and stories.

In yoga, each breath becomes a practice of anchoring the soul into the body. As we inhale, we draw our awareness down and in, reclaiming territory we may have vacated through trauma, stress, or distraction. As we exhale, we radiate our essence outward, expressing truth through movement, voice, and presence. The breath is not just life support—it’s soul support.

From Doing Yoga to Being Yoga

The true shift occurs when yoga stops being something we do and becomes something we live. This is the living body awake: a state in which we feel from within rather than reach from without; where the body is not a problem to fix, but a compass to follow.

We begin to ask:

  • What is this sensation telling me?
  • Where is the energy flowing—or not flowing?
  • Can I soften, open, and breathe into this?
  • Can I trust that every tightness, every tingle, every tremor is the soul trying to get my attention?

This is how we build embodied consciousness—not by escaping the body for spiritual enlightenment, but by descending more fully into it.

Yoga as Soulful Integration

Yoga in its truest sense is union. Not just of body and mind, but of the fragmented parts of our being. When we bring presence to the hips, we awaken our creative force. When we breathe into the heart, we reclaim our ability to feel deeply and safely. When we root into the feet, we connect to the Earth’s intelligence as part of our own.

Living as a body awake means trusting the body’s messages as sacred, and treating the yoga mat not as a stage for performance, but as a laboratory for presence.

Final Breath

As you practice yoga, I invite you to close your eyes—not to shut out the world, but to drop into it more fully. Feel the pulse of aliveness in your bones, the whisper of energy in your spine, the intelligence that is breathing you.

The more you inhabit your body with reverence, the more the body reveals its wisdom. And soon, you’re not just “doing yoga.”. You are energy in motion. You are the soul made visible. You are the living body, awake.
